US agrees to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan: Suhail Shaheen

DOHA (92 News) – Suhail Shaheen, political spokesperson for Taliban, has said that the United States has agreed to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

In a statement on Monday, he said that their dialogues with the US in Doha had been good. "We can overcome Islamic State without the help of America," he maintained.

Shaheen said that the Afghan foreign minister had assured the US of not allow any militant to launch attacks against the US from the Afghan soil.

"On October 9 and 10, an interagency delegation traveled to Doha, Qatar to meet with senior Taliban representatives. The US delegation focused on security and terrorism concerns and safe passage for US citizens, other foreign nationals and our Afghan partners, as well as on human rights, including the meaningful participation of women and girls in all aspects of Afghan society. The two sides also discussed the United States’ provision of robust humanitarian assistance, directly to the Afghan people. The discussions were candid and professional with the US delegation reiterating that the Taliban will be judged on its actions, not only its words," he added.
