WASHINGTON (92 News) – The US on Thursday appreciated Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s definite statement on Occupied Kashmir about atrocities of Indian forces. US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells also said that Pakistan’s sustained commitment to counter all terrorist groups is critical to regional stability. In a post on Twitter, she said, “Applaud PM Imran unambiguous and important statement that militants from Pakistan who would carry out violence in Kashmir are enemies of both Kashmiris and Pakistan.” “We agree. Pakistan's sustained commitment to counter all terrorist groups is critical to regional stability,” she tweeted. Wells statement comes ahead of PM Imran's visit to US, where he is expected to meet President Donald Trump.  According to the official schedule, the first meeting between the prime minister and the US president will be at lunch whereas the other will be at hi-tea. PM Imran Khan will also address the United Nations General Assembly on September 27. Earlier, during the opening of Torkham border about the stalled Afghan peace process, PM Khan said that Pakistan will make its utmost effort for the resumption of the peace process. “It will be tragedy if the talks do not resume and the Taliban do not participate in the Afghan elections,” he added. The prime minister said that he will insist for resumption of peace process during his meeting with the US President Donald Trump on Monday. He said peace in Afghanistan is in the interest of Afghan people as well as Pakistan. He said Pakistan has tried its best to improve relations with Afghanistan.
