US delegation calls on COAS, praises Pak Army’s role in war against terrorism
RAWALPINDI (92 News) A delegation from the United States (US), led by Congressman Jack Bergman and comprising Congressmen Thomas Suozzi and Jonathan Jackson, called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) and held a discussion on regional security, defence cooperation, and broader bilateral ties.
According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides reaffirmed the importance of a long-term partnership rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and converging strategic interests.
The US lawmakers commended the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their crucial role in combating terrorism and acknowledged the nation’s resilience and contributions to regional stability.
The delegation also reiterated respect for Pakistan’s sovereignty and expressed a firm commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including security, trade, investment, and economic development.
General Munir thanked the delegation for their visit and emphasised Pakistan’s intent to further deepen and diversify its relationship with the US in a mutually beneficial manner.
During the meeting, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to promote collaboration in information technology training and capacity building.
