US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad calls on COAS Gen Bajwa

RAWALPINDI (92 News) - US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

According to a statement of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief met Zalmay Khalilzad and General Austin Scott Miller, the Commander Resolute Support Mission Afghanistan.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest. The leaders also shed light on matters related to regional security and the ongoing Afghanistan Reconciliation Process.

During the meeting, the visiting dignitaries greatly appreciated Pakistan's role in the ongoing peace process.

It is pertinent to mention here that Zalmay Khalilzad, who had remained active in finalizing a historic deal between the US and Afghan Taliban, is now working with Pakistan to make the intra-Afghan dialogue a success.

He had frequently visited the country and met with the COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa for the purpose.
