US expects Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorists: Rex Tillerson
October 19, 2017
WASHINGTON (92 News) – US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has on Thursday while demanding Pakistan to do more said that Islamabad will have to take decisive action against all terrorists groups. Addressing the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, Rex Tillerson made an impassioned plea for closer ties with India while casting China as a threat to the world order and saying Pakistan needed to do more to fight terrorism. "We expect Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorist groups that threaten its own people and the broader region," he said. "It is the obligation, not choice, of every civilized nation to combat the scourge of terrorism. The United States and India are leading that regional effort together," he said. The US secretary of state said that the US-India ties would strengthen in the future as New Delhi is a reliable US partner. Tillerson is expected to visit New Delhi and Islamabad, next week. As it has formulated its strategy for hot spots around the world, the Trump administration has emphasized that it looks at problems with a wider lens than its predecessors did — making decisions about troop levels in Afghanistan, for instance, dependent on a regional approach. So what goes up in India — meaning ties with the United States — seems to be headed down elsewhere.
