US invites Taliban leadership for dialogues

WASHINGTON (92 News) – The United States has on Thursday invited new Afghan Taliban leader Maulvi Haibatullah for dialogues. During a news briefing, the US State Department spokesperson Mark Toner said that the Taliban leadership has the best opportunity to move towards reconciliation and not waste the opportunity of dialogues. He said that Maulvi Haibatullah Akhundzada has never been designated a terrorist by the United States (US). On the other hand, spokesman for Afghan President, Syed Zafar Hashmi in his message on social media website that latest developments offer Taliban groups opportunity to end violence, and resume peaceful life; else they will face the fate of their leadership.
