US lifts restrictions on Pakistani diplomats' movement in Washington
August 8, 2019
WASHINGTON (92 News) - The United States government has lifted restrictions on free movement of Pakistani diplomats and staff of Pakistan mission in Washington DC, a diplomatic move that will further improve relations between the two countries. The US decision has followed the recently concluded visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to US and his successful meeting with US President Donald Trump. The US State department officially conveyed to the Pakistani embassy about the new decision. The Trump government had imposed restriction on the free movement of Pakistani diplomats and staff in 2018 following a fatal traffic accident in Islamabad by the United States military attaché. The movement of Pakistani diplomatic staff consisting of 200 people was limited to a 25-mile radius. Pakistani diplomats serving in four consulates apart from the embassy were served notices to ensure implementation on new instructions. In tit-for-tat move, Pakistan also limited the movement of US diplomats in the country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDYxjV4tnq4
