US NSA Lt Gen HR McMaster calls on PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – US National Security Adviser (NSA) Lieutenant General HR McMaster has on Monday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan is looking forward to forge a strong and mutually beneficial partnership with the US to promote peace and security in the region and beyond.

The prime minister reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful neighborhood and apprised the US national security advisor of the steps taken by Pakistan to reach out to both India and Afghanistan.

Sharif further conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to work with the international community to explore ways in which the Afghan crisis can be resolved.

Commenting on the relations with India, the premier reiterated that dialogue and meaningful engagement is the only way forward to resolve all outstanding issues including the Kashmir dispute between the nuclear-arch rivals.

He welcomed President Trump's willingness to help India and Pakistan resolve their differences particularly on Kashmir.

Sharif went on to say that across-the-board consensus achieved by the government to combat extremism and terrorism.

General McMaster conveyed the greetings of US President Donald Trump.

He assured the Prime Minister that the new Administration was committed to strengthening bilateral relations and working with Pakistan, to achieve peace and stability in Afghanistan and in the wider South Asian region.
