US State Department condemns the assassination attack on Imran Khan

WASHINGTON (92 News) - The US State Department has strongly condemned the assassination attack on Imran Khan.

In a statement, Ned Price said that there is no place for violence in politics. “We say to all parties to refrain from violence, harassment and threats. US is determined to see Pakistan as democratic and peaceful. We stand with the people of Pakistan. There is concern over what happened in Pakistan in the last few days.”

The spokesperson said that international rights such as freedom of expression and protest should be respected. “We will continue to raise concerns with all countries about freedom of press and opinion. We will continue to talk with Pakistani authorities about freedom of press. A free press is vital to any nation and democratic future,” he concluded.
