WASHINGTON (92 News) – Asserting that India and Pakistan should adopt a conciliatory approach to resolve their “contentious issues”, US State Department Spokesman Mark Toner has on Friday once against stressed the nuclear armed rivals to bring down the tensions. Addressing a news briefing in Washington on Friday, he said that the US wants greater cooperation and dialogue between the two countries which is in the best interest of both countries in terms of security. “We want to see tensions go down, and we want to see a greater cooperation between the two countries. Now, we’re not there right now, but that’s certainly our inclination,” Toner said. Toner said that Pakistan has provided some evidence pertaining to the situation in the Indian-occupied Kashmir, adding that the US is reviewing these evidence. “We will look into the evidence of Indian human rights abuses provided by the Pakistan,” Toner said. The spokesman said Pakistan demanded the matter of Indian human rights violations in Kashmir to be included in the annual human rights report of the State Department but the US is reviewing the evidence but did not give any commitment.
