US team, COAS Qamar Bajwa discuss matters related to polio eradication

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – A four-member Rotary International team (US Organization on Polio Eradication) led by Holger Knaack, President Rotary International, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters on Tuesday. According to a press release issued by the ISPR, matters related to healthcare particularly Pakistan’s commitment for comprehensive polio eradication were discussed during the meeting. The COAS appreciated the contributions of Rotary International in Pakistan’s health sector and hoped that with concerted efforts of all institutions, polio will be completely eradicated from Pakistan. On January 25, Kanasugi Kenji, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Japan, had called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. According to a press release issued by the ISPR, matters of mutual interest, overall regional situation and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed during the meeting. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s contributions for conflict prevention in the region and pledged to keep working for better relations between the two countries. On January 21, Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo had paid a farewell call to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ. According to a press release issued by the ISPR, COAS thanked the Italian ambassador for his services in Pakistan and acknowledged his contributions towards strengthening Pakistan – Italy relations. The COAS also congratulated the ambassador on his appointment as Civil Senior Representative of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Afghanistan. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role for ensuring peace and stability in the region and also pledged to contribute positively towards Afghan peace.
