Utility store workers observe strike across country

LAHORE (92 News) – All Pakistan Utility Stores Corporation workers observed a strike across the country on Friday. The workers said that Islamabad Police has taken USC Union Chairman Arif Shah into custody without any reason. It said that all the workers will gather in Scheme Mor and stage protest against government tomorrow. It is pertinent to mention here that Islamabad police had arrested Arif Shah from the head office. Earlier before his arrest, Arif Shah surfaced non-availability of essential daily food items in the stores. It was also reported that no implementation is being done on the complete Ramazan package despite the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan. On the other hand, utility stores’ administration has stopped its employees to express their opinions on social media.
PM approves Rs2bn Ramazan relief package for essential items
Earlier, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced a Rs2 billion Ramazan package under which essential items would be provided to the people on cheaper rates at the Utility Stores. The minister said that 19 essential items of daily use would be available in all outlets of Utility Stores Corporation at subsidized rates for the people during the holy month of Ramazan. “19 essential commodities, including pulses, rice, cooking oil, and sugar are being provided on subsidized rates at about two thousand Utility Stores outlets,” she said.
