ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government has hinted at ending relaxation in the lockdown after the Eid holidays. Addressing a press conference on Monday, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Dr Zafar Mirza said that the impression of elimination of coronavirus in Pakistan is wrong. “Coronavirus cases and deaths are on the increase. Thirty-four patients have died during the last 24 hours and 112 are on ventilators,” he said. Dr Zafar Mirza said that deaths and cases would increase if precautionary measures were not adopted. “The situation can improve by following the SOPs. Coronavirus can spread fast by hugging,” he added. He said that this Eid is different from other Eid. Earlier on May 22, Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza warned that the country’s corona situation is alarming and caution must be exercised to curb the COVID-19. Dr Zafar said that the coronavirus situation could further worsen if the people did not practice the precautionary measures. He also said the country recorded 2603 new coronavirus cases with fifty deaths during the last twenty four hours which are the highest in a single day. The special assistant said the country also conducted the highest number of coronavirus tests during the last 24 hours. He recalled that the lockdown was eased in view of the difficulties of the poor people and the daily wagers.
