Voter turnout in today's elections will be over 56%, says AJK CEC

MUZAFFARABAD (92 News) - Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Abdul Rasheed has said that the voter turnout in today's elections will be over 56 per cent.

Speaking to the journalists after inspection polling process in Muzaffarabad on Sunday, the CEC maintained that the polling process is going on peacefully. "The people must exercise their right to vote," he urged.

He also directed to the presiding officer to announce the results on the spot and give a copy to the polling agent.

"Free and fair elections will be ensured in AJK. The polling staff is fully implementing the election code of conduct and the voters are cooperating with the officials. The strict action will be taken on the violation of the code of conduct."

To a question, Abdul Rasheed said the team of Election Commission has been constituted which will visit various polling stations and inspect the polling process.

The AJK CEC and the Azad Kashmir chief secretary visited various polling stations and reviewed the arrangements.
