Water starts becoming rare, won’t be available even at gold price: CJP

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked that water has started becoming rare and will not be available even at the price of gold. While hearing the case pertaining to the price of ground water and management case, he questioned whether availability of water is not associated with basic rights. “We will have to take solid steps in this regard,” he remarked. He remarked that it is pity a positive response has not been received on the recommendations of the Law Commission. The state counsel informed the court that tube-wells had dried in Balochistan. “We are not getting water in Gwadar,” he said. The CJP remarked that the Law Commission had made the plan after hectic efforts, but the government did not implement it. Justice Ejazul Hassan remarked that the tanker mafia’s water business is very profitable. The counsel told court that a man had installed 20 tube-wells in Rawalpindi. “The ground water is being sold for millions of rupees,” he said. The CJP sought a para-wise reply on the recommendations from the federal and provincial governments within two weeks. Increase in population case While hearing the increase in population, the SC ordered to present the implementation report on the recommendations regarding the population growth. The CJP remarked that the court will announce verdict on the population growth.
