KARACHI (92 News) – Water entered homes in Karachi’s Ibrahim Hyderi, Rehri Goth and Lath Basti as meteorologists said Cyclonic Storm Kyarr would not hit the city. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department chief Meteorologist, the storm is still in the Arabian Sea and heading towards Oman but some effects were felt in Karachi. Due to the water, the roads are looking like pounds. Meanwhile, the residents are draining the water from their houses on behalf of themselves. It was also reported that most of the water has been drained from houses and stressed that there was no flood. Strong winds pushed sea water into the houses. Most homes, with the exception of a very few, are dry, they said, adding that many people had to get the water out themselves. Nevertheless, the situation is much better than before, say officials. The PMD says there is no danger to Pakistan’s coastal areas from Kyarr. However, rain is expected as a result of the storm. Sporadic rain and storms are expected in the coastal areas, including Karachi, on October 30 and 31. None of Pakistan’s coastal areas are under threat from the system, said the PMD. Fishermen are advised to remain alert and not go into the sea from Monday.
