We are in US not to beg but for better ties and investment offers: FM Qureshi

WASHINGTON DC (92 News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi categorically said on Sunday that they were on a visit to the United States not to beg something, but to take up matters on equal footings and seeking investment from Pakistan community.    

Addressing a gathering of Pakistani community gathered at the Capital One Arena in Washington, he said:  "We have not come here with a begging bowl rather we will speak to our counterparts as how to improve bilateral relations between Pakistan and US and seek investments from overseas Pakistanis to change country's fate."

Referring to Kartarpur and CPEC projects, Qureshi said we are here to open new corridors on borders that were previously closed.

"We have not come with any demands for aid. We’re here because Prime Minister Imran Khan will share with President Trump, the road-map of Naya (New) Pakistan."

The foreign minister said many Pakistani premiers have visited America in the past but this the first PM who has written history by not chartering a Boeing 777 but traveling a commercial flight along with his high-powered entourage.

"Who chose to stay at Pakistan House rather an expensive hotel," Qureshi questioned.

He said the crowd at the Capital One Arena in Washington is electric, adding this is history in the making.

"Any Pakistani leader has never ever been accorded such a warm reception by Pakistani community on US visit."

Commenting on more secured Pakistan, the foreign minister said the security officials and public had rendered unprecedented sacrifices to turn Pakistan into a peaceful country.

"The entire world and nation have seen peaceful elections in ex-FATA areas of KP and now Pakistan also wishes peaceful Afghanistan."

"We all will make Pakistan Naya (new) Pakistan," Qureshi said while showing his resolve to the participants.
