RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Major General Babar Iftikhar has said that well aeare about every conspiracy of enemy and the Pakistani armed forces are fully capable and ever ready to respond to any aggression. Addressing a news conference in Rawalpindi, the ISPR director general said that the Indian act is a threat to the peace of the world. “We are aware of each conspiracy of our enemies. We are ready to defend our homeland each time,” he said.
DG ISPR declared 27th February as thanksgiving day
He has also declared 27th February as thanksgiving day as well as a day to renew a pledge. He also said India carried out a failed and cowardice attempt to attack Pakistan on February 26 last year, and in response, its two planes were shot down and a pilot was captured. He said February 27 carries the status of a golden chapter in Pakistan’s history because every Pakistani became proud on that day. He said the enemy's designs were foiled on this day. He also dedicated 27 February to all the martyrs who sacrificed their life in the line of duty.
Given surprise India which it was willing to give Pakistan
The DG ISPR said that they had given the surprise to India which it was willing to give Pakistan. “The enemy failed and fled. Our civil and military leadership knows very well the game being played by India,” he said. He said that the Pak Army had responded to increasing aggression of India and would continue to do so. “We hit our target, while India hits its citizens,” he said.
Indian atrocities in IoK continuing for the last 207 days
Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar said that Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir are continuing for the last 207 days. “Life is paralyzed there, while Kashmiris’ genocide is being committed. It is not only an ideological and geographical dispute between Pakistan and India, but an international issue of the violation of human rights.” He said that protests are being staged across the world, including India, against the atrocities being unleashed in IOK. “The Kashmir dispute has once again become the focus of the world. The UN also stressed to resolve the dispute as per its resolutions,” he declared. The DG ISPR said that the Kashmir dispute is the national interest of Pakistan, but also a guarantee of the national solidarity. “We stand by the Kashmiris in this struggle and will continue to stand by them,” he resolved.
Protests being staged across world against Indian atrocities
He said that protests are being staged across the world, including India, against the atrocities being unleashed in IOK. “The Kashmir dispute has once again become the focus of the world. The UN also stressed to resolve the dispute as per resolutions,” he declared.
Armed forces successfully fought war on terror
He said that Pakistan armed forces and law enforcement agencies had successfully fought the war on terror during the last two decades. “Pakistan is a country which not only countered terrorism also played a key role in world peace,” he said. Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar said that over 150,000 intelligence-based operations had so far been conducted. “During these operations, 17,000 terrorists were killed and 450 tons of explosive material was taken into custody,” he said.
1,000 terrorists of Al-Qaeda either arrested or killed
He said that over 1,000 terrorists of Al-Qaeda were either arrested or killed during these operations. “The Operation Raddul Fasaad was a difficult operation. It was an important phase in peace,” he added.
No space for a war between two nuclear powers
The DG ISPR warned that if Pakistan’s sovereignty is challenged, the country will respond with full force. He said Pakistan is taking the recent threatening statements of the Indian leadership very seriously. He said there is no space for a war between two nuclear powers because it will have uncontrollable consequences. He said the region cannot afford any war. Therefore, he said, Pakistan has always adopted the path of peace. Nonetheless, the armed forces of Pakistan are ever ready to respond to any aggression.
Int’l community stands with Pakistan’s stance for peace in South Asia
To a question about the upcoming peace deal with the US and the Afghan Taliban, Major General Babar Iftikhar hoped the agreement will have positive impact on the region as Pakistan strongly supported the Afghan-led peace process.
US President acknowledges Pakistan's role during visit to India
To another question, he said the international community is standing with Pakistan’s stance on de-escalation in South Asia and appreciating Islamabad's positive role in this regard. He said US President Donald Trump acknowledged Pakistan's role in his recent visit to India saying that Pakistan is very closely working with the United States for regional peace.
