Western agencies sent terrorists in Pakistan: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday said that the western agencies sent terrorists including al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. Addressing an international conference on counter terrorism in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said that Pakistan was plagued by terrorism few years back and terrorists held the society hostage but today Pakistan has emerged victorious in war against terror. The minister said that today the whole world’s institutions were declaring Pakistan an emerging economy. Iqbal went on to say that the Western agencies sent militants like Osama bin Laden to Pakistan but left after the Afghan war ended decades ago. Pakistan has since been suffering from the effects of the Afghan war, he added. “We carried out Zarb-e-Azb like operations from our own resources to flush out terror outfits, the minister said and added it was our national resolve to cleanse any sign of terrorism to achieve the objective of peace and development. He said that our 60,000 people became victim of terrorism but this did not deter the resolve of the nation. Voicing concerns over recent wave of terror unleashed by Indian troops in Occupied Kashmir, the interior minister said this will not contribute to bringing peace and stability to the region.
