LONDON (Web Desk) Meta-owned messaging giant WhatsApp is introducing a new memory feature for its AI chatbot, Meta AI, allowing users to enjoy a more personalised and assistant-like experience.
The feature, currently available to select beta testers via WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.25.11.13), enables users to instruct the chatbot to remember specific preferences and details.
The memory function is designed to improve the chatbot’s relevance in responses. For example, if a user mentions they are vegetarian or a graphic designer, Meta AI will store this information to offer tailored suggestions, from restaurant recommendations to design software tips.
This marks a significant step in Meta’s efforts to transform its AI into a more intuitive, lifestyle-aware assistant. Importantly, Meta has assured users that Meta AI will only remember information explicitly shared with it and will not access any content from other chats, which remain end-to-end encrypted.
Users will retain full control over their data, with the ability to view, update, or delete stored information at any time.
Announced earlier by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the feature is now gradually expanding beyond the initial beta group, signalling a broader rollout in the coming weeks.
