Where is 'Channay wala', asks CJ Nisar

LAHORE (92 News) – Cheif Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar summoned former Railways minister Khwaja Saad Rafique on next hearing and asked where is 'Channay wala'? referring to Khwaja Saad Rafique. The Chief justice heard suo motu notice of losses suffered by Pakistan Railways in the Supreme Court at Lahore Registry. The figure was quoted by an audit officer who also presented the department’s forensic audit report to the SC. The audit officer also told the SC that only 50 railway stations had been computerised out of 500 in the country. The officer said that the department was incurring so many losses because Railway officials were irresponsible. The forensic audit report also revealed that 70 per cent of the department’s revenues goes towards pensions of retired officers. The CJ remarked that if the country's institutions aren’t working, it is difficult to comprehend how the country itself is functioning. During the hearing, the chief justice also summoned Khwaja Saad Rafique on next hearing in interesting remarks. The Cheif justice said where is 'Channay wala'? referring to Khwaja Saad Rafique. The apex court summoned reply after issuing a notice to Railway department over the forensic audit report.
