LAHORE (92 News) – Why did lawyers attack on doctors at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology? 92 News found the root cause as a video of doctors was going viral last night which sparked lawyers for attack. 92 News surfaced a video of doctor which sparked the lawyers to attack at a Lahore hospital, it was their reaction to a video that went viral the previous day. In the video, standing on the stage, a doctor made a fun of lawyers for announcing about their win after beating the lawyers. A couple of days ago, the doctors and hospital staff at the PIC beat up a lawyer. When filed a case against those responsible, police didn't arrest anyone. This is only a reaction to the video that went viral yesterday and doctors are responsible for the clash that took place. A doctor also said that when a group of lawyers went to the secretariat and also requested the Punjab IG to register cases against doctors, they were told that nothing could be done about it. The video ends with the doctor making fun of lawyers and talking about how they were beaten up.
Lawyer threatened doctors before attacking PIC
The attack at PIC was fully planned because 92 News surfaced another video of lawyers which showing the plan of them. Responding to previous day doctor’s video, before storming the emergency ward of the PIC, a lawyer recorded a live video in which he threatened doctors. In the video it can easily be seen to a lawyer said, look at the sea of lawyers. Today, doctors will have to undergo bypass and have stents inserted in them. “We will enter the hospital and beat them doctors up,” he added. A rally attended by hundreds of lawyers stormed Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore attacked the PIC hospital after raising slogans in different wards and some people entered into the operation theatres which led to the stoppage of the scheduled surgeries of cardiac patients. The participants of the rally also shattered the window glasses of out-patient department (OPD) wards, as well as many vehicles present inside the hospital. Dr Asif, Patron-in-Chief of Young Doctors Association (YDA), told that the physicians and nurses were attacked and brutally tortured by the lawyers at the PIC hospital. He alleged that the situation turned violent when some lawyers raised slogans to kill the doctors. Later, the police personnel charged baton and fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesting lawyers for bringing the situation under control. The protestors were dispersed after baton charge and usage of water-cannon by the police officials.
Fayyazul Hassan Chohan thrashed
Punjab information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan was slapped and tortured by outrageous lawyers outside Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) hospital in Lahore. The lawyers, who were protesting inside PIC hospital over a dispute with young doctors, slapped and severely tortured Punjab’s information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan when he arrived at the hospital’s premises to hold talks with them. During the protest, Gulshan Bibi, 70, who was being treated at PIC died after doctors and staffers vacated the hospital. All the operations were halted after the incident. Owing to the protest, emergency of the Services Hospital was also closed.
Prime Minister Imran Khan takes notice
Prime Minister Imran Khan has also taken notice of the PIC incident and sought a report from the IGP Punjab and chief secretary.
Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar orders inquiry
Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry into the matter. He has formed an inquiry committee to probe the matter. The committee will comprise of Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, IGP Punjab Shoaib Dastgir, Home additional chief secretary and Specialized Health and Medical Education secretary. The committee will prepare a report and submit a report to the chief minister. It will also determine involved in hooliganism.
