Will decide whether to approach IMF or not till Oct 10: Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Finance Minister Asad Umar has said that he will decide whether to go to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or not till October 10 after a meeting with the Saudi delegation. Speaking in 92 News Program ‘Breaking Views with Malick’ on Friday, he said he had never said that they will never go to the IMF. “We are looking into all options, including the IMF,” he maintained. The minister said that an increase in the oil prices is not good for Pakistan. “I cannot immediately tell how much money we need,” he said. He was of the view that nothing changed for 90 percent people. “When a person purchases a vehicle, it is easy to bring him in the tax net,” he added. Asad Umar said that the previous government did nothing in the gas sector during last four years. “There will be no compromise on the owner and safety of vehicles being manufactured in Pakistan,” he maintained. The minister said that they will soon take action with regard to manufacturing of Japanese vehicles. He said that the government will announce a comprehensive economic policy after 100 days. Earlier addressing a press conference, he said that the economy is in the ICU and undergoing a bypass.
