Will go to jail but won’t change stance on military courts: Bilawal

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday announced that that the PPP will not change its principled stance on presidential system, military courts and 18th amendment whether have to go to jail. Addressing a press conference, the PPP chairman said, “You can send my entire party to jail but we will not change our stance on the 18th Amendment, presidential form of government, military courts, freedom of the press and democracy.”

PPP chairman terms govt’s accountability as hypocritical

He termed the government’s accountability campaign as ‘hypocritical’, saying that NAB and democracy cannot go hand in hand. “There was a prime minister Junejo who said that martial law and democracy can’t go together. In the same way, NAB’s black law and our democracy can’t be run simultaneously. He said, “The government is adopting double policy for benami accounts, adding that Jahangir Tareen’s benami accounts are clean but the other mill owners are thieves if they do the same.”

Bilawal asks govt to learn from PPP’s tenure

Bilawal said that the government needs to review its fiscal policy, adding that it needs to learn from the tenure of his party in 2008. He mentioned that said despite the recession the PPP government fought with international institutions for the sake of people.

Not accept contract with IMF if not made public

The PPP chairman further announced that they will not accept the contract with International Monetary Fund (IMF) if it is not presented in front of the nation. “The incumbent government has spate laws for the poor and the rich; however, Ramazan package is for the poor while amnesty scheme is being given to the rich to turn black money into white. Bilawal Bhutto says presidential system not in interest of country

Earlier, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has said that the presidential system is not in the interest of the country. Talking to the media after a meeting of the opposition parties on Friday, he said that all democratic forces will oppose the presidential system. “There is no place for a referendum in the constitution. This system could not work except in the United States,” he said. Bilawal Bhutto said that only Islamic parliamentary system is the best one. Only the wish of people, not any third umpire, works in the country,” he said. He also mentioned that the PPP is not afraid form the jail. The PPP chairman declared that the NAB law was formed for political engineering. He also offered the government cooperation for the resolution of the Balochistan issues.
