Will not rest till terrorism is eliminated, says PM Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that they will not rest till terrorism is eliminated. He was presiding over a high-level meeting on Thursday. The meeting devised a strategy to stop foreign funding of terrorists. It also decided to implement all points of the National Action Plan equally. The meeting agreed to establish a high level task force to monitor the progress of implementation of National Action Plan. The task force will comprise of senior representatives of all concerned departments and agencies of the federal government and the provinces. The prime minister directed that no effort be spared to ensure complete and effective implementation of the plan, a statement released from the PM House said. Prime Minister Sharif stressed the need to take result-oriented and time bound action, with a view to completely eliminate and eradicate terrorism from Pakistan. The meeting expressed the resolve that restoration of complete peace and tranquility shall remain the top priority of the Government and all the state institutions. It was stressed that intelligence agencies perform a vital role in guaranteeing national security and safeguarding national interest for which they will be provided all necessary resources and support. “The meeting took a strategic review of regional and internal security situation and in that context also focused on the latest trends of activities of hostile intelligence agencies to destabilize Pakistan.” The meeting was attended by: Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan, COAS General Raheel Sharif, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, SAPM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Chairman NSA Lt-Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, DG ISI Lt-Gen Rizwan Akhtar, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Ch, DG IB Aftab Sultan, DG (C) Maj Gen Muhammad Humayun Saleem, DG (CT) Maj Gen Tariq Qaddus, DG MI Maj Gen Nadeem Zaki Manj and DG MO Maj Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
