LAHORE (92 News) – Taking notice of prize money announced for police over motorway gang rape main accused Abid Malhi’s arrest, Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan remarked that will the police officers now perform their duty for getting prizes.

During the hearing in a land case, the LHC chief justice expressed anger over announcement of reward for police over arrest of culprit. He said that will the police officers now perform their duty for getting prizes. "It is a new custom that the Punjab government has started," he added.

“Police was unable to arrest Abid Malhi. Is it not police’s duty to arrest suspects? Now police will first wait for prize than arrest the accused," Justice Qasim Khan maintained.

The chief justice further said that the accused are not being caught by the police and they have started to possess lands. "Is it the job of the police to make forest law in the country?," he asekd.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had announced prize money of five million rupees after Abid Malhi was arrested. He also expressed satisfaction over the performance of police in the case.
