LAHORE (92 News) – A 60-year-old woman died on the floor of Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital on Monday due to the non-availability of bed. According to sources, Zohran Bibi belonged to Kasur and had come to Lahore for her cardiac treatment.

Zohran Bibi was first brought to Punjab Institute of Cardiology where she was referred to Services Hospital.

The Services Hospital administration instead of treating the patient further referred her to Jinnah Hospital. On arrival to Jinnah Hospital, she was admitted in Medical Unit 1 but was not provided with a bed.

The patient was treated on the floor instead where she breathed her last. After the incident was highlighted on media, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the hospital and took a notice.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique also visited the hospital along with Health Special Secretary Sajid Chauhan. The doctors confirmed that the patient was treated on the floor of the hospital.

The health minister admitted that Zohran Bibi was treated outside the ward. He said that he is conducting an inquiry about shifting the patient from Services to Jinnah Hospital. He said that an action would be taken against those responsible for the incident after a report is prepared.

He also said that the provincial government is trying to increase the number of beds in the hospitals of Lahore.
