ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial has said that women will have to be empowered for the betterment of the country.
Addressing the concluding session of the two-day conference on Saturday, he said that the governments are well aware of the basic rights of the women. "Courts can be approached if government show reluctance in this regard," he added.
The CJP said that courts cannot formulate laws and policies, but they can play a role for their implementation.
He said that legislation with regard to the rights of women had been done. "Health, education and independence are basic rights of the women. The woman should have independence to take basic decisions," he observed.
