ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, while hearing the missing persons case, on Tuesday ruled that the Supreme Court will not be allowed to be used for political purposes.

The CJP observed that each institution should remain within its constitutional domain. "The court will not let the case be dismissed and find out a solution to the issue," he ruled.

When the counsel Shoaib Shaheen referred to Sheikh Rasheed, Furrukh Habib and Azam Khan, the CJP observed: "Do not make the case political as the issue of missing persons is important. The mentioned people are influential and we will listen to them if they themselves will tell the court that they had been kidnapped."

When a petitioner requested the court to order legislation regarding the missing persons, the CJP ruled that they cannot direct the parliament to do legislation.

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar observed that the court had no power to legislate, but it could nullify the law.

Later, the hearing was adjourned until Wednesday (tomorrow).
