World Bank to provide $500 m credit to Pakistan for stabilisation of economy

WASHINGTON (92 News) - Pakistan and the World Bank signed the Second Fiscally Sustainable and Inclusive Growth Development Policy Credit on Thursday, a credit amount of $500 million being given to support Pakistan’s efforts to reinvigorate growth and stabilise the economy, according to Radio Pakistan. Pakistan's ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani and Annette Dixon, the World Bank Vice President for the South Asian region, signed the accord in Washington. Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador said another similar credit agreement of about five hundred million dollars will be signed in September this year with the World Bank for the energy sector reforms. He said the credit is aimed at Pakistan's goal of accelerating growth to help create jobs and economic opportunity for all.
