World Bank to provide Pakistan special package to overcome budget deficit

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The World Bank (WB), a leading global lender, has showed willingness to provide Pakistan a special package in November to overcome its budget deficit. The announcement came at a meeting between Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Hafeez Sheikh and WB's country director Patchamuthu Illangovan here on Thursday. Mr Illangovan said the international lender would finalize the package in October and that their president will visit Pakistan in November this year for signing the package. He appreciated the government for taking steps to come out of the budget deficit. Sources said the package would be in addition to $9 billion programme planned for Pakistan.
