ISTANBUL (Web Desk) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi urged world to play for peace in Afghanistan, adding that the peace and stability in Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s own interest. Speaking to the journalists in Turkey, he said Pakistan deems that establishment of peace in Afghanistan will lead to more bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said Pakistan will have opportunities of investment, reconstruction, and infrastructure development in Afghanistan. FM Qureshi said Pakistan has played a positive role in holding of talks between the US and Taliban in Doha and this contribution is being hailed by the world. The minister said the international community is also appreciative of Pakistan for clearing its side of the border from terrorists. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistan has created internal political consensus regarding its tribal belt and merged it into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The foreign minister said the incumbent government has allocated a special financial package for the development of erstwhile FATA to remove the sense of deprivation and poverty from the area. He said Pakistan clarified at the Heart of Asia Conference that Islamabad cannot make efforts in Afghan peace process alone and the world should come forward to play its role in this regard.
