Wrong propaganda being done about Transgender Bill: Law Minister Azam Tarar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has said that the wrong propaganda is being done regarding the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill.

Addressing a press conference along with on Prime Minister's Adviser Qamar Zaman Kaira on Thursday, he said that the opinion of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) chairman was also sought in the matter.

"Through the bill, sexual harassment has been made a crime. The law will stop same-sex marriages," he added.

Azam Nazir Tarar said that it has been portrayed as if the Transgender Law is wrong totally. "There is a lacuna in each law and it is possible as well. In the complaint, it has been stated that it could be misused. According to the constitution, there will be no discriminatory treatment with anyone on the basis of gender," he maintained.

The minister said that their objective is to make the environment conducive for the education of eunuchs. "Separate rooms have been constructed for them in hospitals. A separate jail has also been established," he added.
