Wrote letter to CJP for commission to probe into Arshad Sharif's murder: PM Shehbaz Sharif
ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif is highly regrettable, adding that he has written a letter to the chief justice to form a commission.
Addressing the Journalist Safety Forum on Tuesday, he said that he had also talked to the Kenyan president in this regard. "The media is the pillar of any democratic state. The freedom of expression is essential for each society," he added.
The prime minister said that the government is taking steps for protection of journalists.
"The journalist community is close to my heart. Protection and security of journalists is very essential. The government is doing legislation for the protection of journalists. The government, the media and the civil society will have to jointly work," he maintained.
