Yasir Shah becomes second-fastest bowler to take 100 Test wickets

DUBAI (92 News) – Leg-spinner Yasir Shah became the second-fastest bowler to take 100 Test wickets after taking five wickets in the first innings on the fourth day of the first Test against West Indies in Dubai. Shah is currently playing his 17th Test and has 100 wickets which makes him the fastest bowler from Pakistan and Asia. He finished the innings with five wickets for 121 runs as West Indies were bowled out for 357 in reply to Pakistan’s 579/3. Shah ended the first innings with a five-wicket haul and pertinently, and became the joint second fastest to 100 Test wickets in 17 Tests. He joins an illustrious company that includes Australia's Charlie Turner, England's Sydney Barnes and Australia's Clarrie Grimmett. England's medium pacer George Lohmann leads the list after he had reached the landmark in 16 Tests in 1896. After having removed the openers Leon Johnson and Kraigg Brathwaite earlier, Shah removed wicketkeeper-batsman Shane Dowrich, West Indies captain Jason Holder and then accounted for Miguel Cummins for his 100th Test wicket. Shah finished with 5-121. Shah bettered off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, who had held the Pakistani record of fastest to 100 Tests wickets in 19 matches. India's R Ashwin had reached the landmark in 18 Tests, incidentally against the West Indies in Mumbai in 2013.
