Young doctors call off strike after successful talks with government

LAHORE (92 News) – Young doctors called off their strike after successful talks with the government on Thursday. YYDA representatives held talks with Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary Health Jawwad Rafique at Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore. Khawaja Salman Rafique assured the YDA representatives that all general cadre doctors would be promoted until May 30, while all of their demands would be fulfilled by July 20. He also assured that the upgradation process would be completed during the period. He said that recommendations regarding direct induction into BS 18 and pay raise would be prepared in 10 days. Dr Amir Bandesha, a spokesman for the YDA, said that the YDA will again take to streets if the government did not fulfil their demands. Meanwhile, five people died in an hour during the strike of young doctors in Sargodha.
