KARACHI (News) – A 12-year-old boy was wounded by police firing in Lucky Star area of Saddar in Karachi. The 12-year-old victim was identified as Ahmad s/o Muhammad Sohail. The residents beat the policemen Adnan, involved in firing, and handed him over to Rangers. Angry residents staged a protest outside Saddar Police Station against the incident. The relatives said that that Ahmad went to park his father’s car when police opened fire at him. They also claimed that the police personnel involved in firing were drunk. Meanwhile, a case has been registered against police official Adnan under Section 324 at the Saddar Police Station. The case was filed on behalf of victim’s father Muhammad Sohail. Speaking to the journalists, DSP Kanwar said that the policeman, who opened fire, has been arrested. He expressed sorrow over the incident, saying that the police personnel are fresher and have no experience. Earlier, youth, a first-year female medical student Nimrah Baig, who was shot dead during an exchange of fire between police and suspected robbers in North Karachi. The incident had happened when a police party had traded fire with a group of suspects, who were fleeing after committing robberies. One suspected robber was also killed during the Anda Mor 'encounter'. The police claimed that the 20-year-old Nimrah Baig was killed from the firing of the robbers. However, a medical examination of the victim carried out at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) revealed that a bullet fired from a high-velocity weapon caused her death.
