Zainab murder case: Accused Imran handed down death on four counts

LAHORE (92 News) – The anti-terrorism court handed down death on four counts to the killer of seven-year-old Zainab who was brutally murdered after rape. The court also sentenced him life imprisonment and fined him Rs one million. Moreover, he has been sentenced seven years and fined him Rs 200,000 for throwing the body on the heap of garbage. Talking to the media outside the jail, the prosecutor general said that Imran is a serial killer and he killed nine girls. He said that the killer has been awarded death for killing the innocent girl after rape. “The accused has been sentenced under the 7ATA. He has been awarded life imprisonment for sexually assaulting the girl,” he said. Zainab was kidnapped on January 4 and her body was found from a heap of garbage on January 9. On February 12, charges were framed against the accused. The verdict was reserved on February 15. The accused had confessed to raping and murdering nine girls. The incident had triggered violent protests in the city. Two people were killed when the police opened fire on a mob trying to enter the DC Office. On January 15, the DG Forensic revealed that the same accused had raped and killed all the girls. The accused Imran Ali was arrested from Pakpattan on January 23. On January 26, the JIT started the investigations. The hearing into the case was held daily in Kot Lakhpat Jail.
