RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt-Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa has on Friday said that the security forces foiled a bid of terrorists to break Hyderabad Jail and free around 100 hardcore terrorists and criminals, including Khalid Umer Sheikh.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi on Friday, Lt Gen Asim Bajwa said that the security forces have apprehended terrorists and facilitators of Al Qaeda in sub-Continent and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and recovered huge cache of weapons, suicide vests and explosive material

He said that Al Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi planned free Khalid Umer Sheikh, the prime suspect in Daniel Pearl murder case and around 100 other hardcore terrorists including Naeem Bukhari, Farooq Bhatti and Sabir Khan.

The DG ISPR said that the terrorists made explosive material with the help of grinder and ball bearings, adding that the security forces had also seized an explosive laden van.

He said that the terrorists also had police uniforms, adding that the terrorists were living in a rented house, while terrorist Naeem Bukhari was also living in Karachi.

Lt Gen Asim Saleem said that the terrorists started a business of plastic containers, while the snatched weapons were hidden in washing machines. “Terrorists' havens have been washed out from the country, which helped reduce terrorism to a large extent,” he said.

Asim Saleem Bajwa said more than 13,000 intelligence based operations have so far been conducted countrywide against terrorists. “The operation Zarb-e-Azb helped in restoration of peace in the country. He added the successes achieved in operation Zarb-e-Azb are being acknowledged at international level,” he said.
