Zardari challenges SC’s order to submit assets details
September 18, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foremr president Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday challenged the Supreme Court orders of August 29 as summoning details of his assets in National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) case. On August 29, the apex court had summoned details of the former president’s assets from the past 10 years while hearing a petition related to the NRO, which was passed by Musharraf in 2007. However, the PPP co-chairman filed a review petition challenging the orders of the Supreme Court seeking foreign assets details. The review petition was filed by Zardari’s lawyer Farooq H Naik. In the petition, Zardari stated that the court verdict was not based on any law as per mentioned in the constitution. It also contended that the orders violate Articles 4, 175 and 187 of the constitution. The petitioner requested that the court review its verdict. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court sought a 10-year record of the assets and foreign and local bank accounts owned by former presidents Pervez Musharraf and Asif Ali Zardari. In the previous hearing, the court expressed a lack of confidence in the affidavit submitted by former president Zardari and sought his asset details from 2007 onwards.
