Zardari demands action against NAB chairman

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former president and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Asif Zali Zardari has demanded the concerned authorities to take action against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Tuesday. Speaking to journalists on the premises of the accountability court following the hearing of the fake bank accounts case, the PPP co-chairman said that they will take legal course of action against Javed Iqbal over his interview to a journalist.
NAB chief doesn’t have right to give an interview
Zardari mentioned that the NAB chairman’s office doesn’t permit him to be interviewed. “NAB chairman does not have the right to give an interview. His post does not allow him to do this. We will take action against it,” Zardari told journalists.
Will not boycott NAB
Asif Ali Zardari said that they do not boycott against the anti-graft watchdog body but will make their effort to useless. “We are saying from the first day the prime minister is selective. They become worried due to the on Iftar party. They should have to see what will be happened in next with them,” he ironically said in poetic sentence with his habitual smile. Commenting on the banker Hussain Lawai’s arrest in the case, he lamented an 80-year old elderly man is being presented in the court handcuffed despite the fact that no charges have been proved against him. He asked how the country’s economy would work if elderly men will be forced to appear in courts.
Fake accounts case adjourned till May 30
The accountability court adjourned the fake accounts case till May 30. The court issued a show-cause notice to the Sindh chief secretary for not appearing in court.
On May 9, the accountability court adjourned the fake accounts case till May 21. PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur appeared in court. The Omni Group accused also attended the hearing.
