Zardari says no need to topple PTI govt, it will fall down itself
January 14, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Monday said that there was no need to topple the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government as it would fall down itself. Addressing to the floor of National Assembly, Zardari has said his party supports opposition leader’s demand for constituting a Parliamentary Committee to probe into Mohmand Dam contract issue. He also advised the minister for water resources for homework to understand the issue of water and added that people of Sindh are facing acute shortage of water.

NAB chairman should appear before parliament

The PPP co-chairman claimed that the state’s institutions have badly failed, “Time has come to summoned NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal before the house.” Zardari urged Imran Khan-led government to rein in the NAB to end the uncertainty in the country. He advised the government that the state machinery cannot work smoothly if the uncertainty continues to prevail. “Why will you go to the NAB chairman?” he asked the MNAs present, before declaring: “The NAB chairman should appear in person before the parliament.” Zardari said the matter was not personal to him because he had encountered many NABs during his career and will continue to face them. “The real issue is, what will happen when you are summoned by the accountability watchdog?” he said with smile, addressing the treasury benches. The former president proposed that the cases against parliamentarians should be reviewed by the house committee on law before they are sent to NAB. He said he wants to work to strengthen the parliament and democracy, and pointing towards government benches said, “I also want to train these news friends that have come to the parliament.”

Zardari says not want to see Maryam in jail

The PPP co-chairman has said that he does not want to see Maryam Nawaz in jails. “I do not want to see Maryam Nawaz and others who are anyone’s daughter and sisters,” he said. “We are happy over provision of relief to the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. We do not want to see daughters and sisters including Maryam Nawaz in the prisons,” he said after the Supreme Court’s judgment earlier in the day.

PPP govt resolved 50% during first six month

Lashing out at the PTI government, the former president claimed that the incumbent government lacked the required number and formed with the help of other parties. He also predicted that the PTI’s government may not be able to complete its tenure. “During the first six months of the PPP government I had resolved the 50 per cent issues and put the country on the right direction,” he claimed.

Foreign aid being given to Pakistan is welcome

Zardari said that the international aid being given to Pakistan by friendly countries is welcome, but no foreign force can prevent the economic slide the country appeared to be heading towards because of PTI government’s policies. He said no foreign power, be it China or any other country, could save Pakistan once it starts its journey towards becoming a failed state on the sliding scale because everyone will think of their own country.

Zardari thanks CJ for removing Bilawal name from ECL

Commenting on the issue of the fake bank accounts probe by the JIT, the former president thanked Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar for excluding Bilawal’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL). Terming the fake bank accounts as a ‘drama’, Zardari said such tactics were applied in the past too, but failed badly.
