ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday fixed for hearing a plea seeking disqualification of former president Asif Ali Zardari on January 10. https://92newshd.tv/ecp-accepts-plea-seeking-zardaris-disqualification-for-preliminary-hearing/#.XCoEOGlS8dU The ECP has not issued any notice to the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) for the initial hearing which will decide whether the reference is admissible for hearing or not. In the plea, Petitioner Khurram Sher Zaman has been issued a notice by the election body. The PTI leader had filed a petition seeking Zardari’s disqualification for allegedly concealing a flat in United States. The plea maintains that the former president was elected from NA-213. It stated that Asif Zardari had not mentioned his flat in the US in his assets. “After concealing the assets, Asif Zardari has not remained ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Amin’,” it said. The application was earlier addressed to the Election Commissioner. After the change, the reference was written to the Sindh Election Commission secretary. The application contains proofs of Asif Zardari’s ownership of a flat in the US. https://92newshd.tv/pti-submits-reference-against-asif-zardari-for-concealing-assets/#.XCoEPGlS8dU Talking to the media after submitting the application, PTI leader Khurram Sher Zaman and Firdous Shamim said that a sequence has started and now there will be turn of others. They said that Asif Zardari had not mentioned his property in the legal documents. They added that action will be taken against big elephants. “The NAB should investigate the matter as how the property was purchased,” he said. “Zardari is the owner of flat situated in New York but the property is not mentioned in the asset details submitted to ECP,” says the petitioner. “Concealing assets comes under article 62 (1) (f) of the constitution. Zardari has not remained ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Amin’ therefore; he should be declared disqualified,” added the plea.
