Zeenat murder case: Mother handed down death, brother gets life term
January 16, 2017
LAHORE (92 News) – An anti-terrorism court awarded death to a woman and life term to her son for burning her daughter to death. Zeenat, 17, had eloped and contracted the marriage of her choice with Hassan Khan in the Factory Area police limits on June 8, 2016. Her family was annoyed with the marriage. A week after the marriage, Zeenat was burnt to death by her mother and brother. Her mother, in her confessional statement, told the police that she first tied her to the ‘charpoy’, sprinkled kerosene oil and set her ablaze. Her neighbors tried to rescue her, but the family did not allow anyone to go near her. As a result, Zeenat died.
