AC resumes hearing of assets reference against Ishaq Dar
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The accountability court (AC) has today (Tuesday) resumed hearing of the assets beyond income reference against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar filed by the country’s anti-graft watchdog National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir resumed hearing of the reference against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Ishaq Dar, who is currently in London again failed to appear before the accountability court.
The counsel of the finance minister will move an application in the court seeking exemption of the federal minister from proceeding on medical ground.
On the other hand, the accountability court is expected to declare the two sons of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif proclaimed offenders and will direct to advertise for their appearance in the court.
In the last hearing, the accountability court (AC) had rejected the application for Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s exemption from court proceedings and upheld his bailable arrest warrant in assets beyond corruption reference against the minister.
The junior lawyer had moved an application in the court seeking exemption of the federal minister from proceeding on medical ground. However, the NAB prosecutor said that the finance minister was deliberately skipping the proceedings and making lame excuses. The prosecutor then asked the court to issue ‘non-bailable’ arrest warrant for Dar.
The court had also approved NAB’s request to freeze Dar’s assets.
