Afghan President reaches Pakistan to attend Heart of Asia Conference

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has on Wednesday reached Islamabad to attend the “Heart of Asia Conference” being hosted by Pakistan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif welcomed the Afghan President upon his arrival, while Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Zakaullah and Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Advisor to prime minister on National Security Lt Gen (r) Nasir Janjua, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Saffron Minister Abdul Qadir and Tariq Fatemi were also present at the Chaklala airbase to welcome Ghani.

A twenty-one gun salute boomed out when the distinguished guest alighted from his aircraft and he was also given a guard of honor and national anthems of Pakistan and Afghanistan were played.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani will inaugurate the Heart of Asia Conference jointly with the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, while the Afghan President will hold meetings with Pakistani officials to improve bilateral relations between the two countries and to resume dialogues with the Afghan Taliban.

The conference will be attended by representatives including foreign ministers from 14 participating states, 17 supporting countries and 12 international and regional organizations.
