Altaf announces support for Kalabagh Dam to end water shortage
KARACHI (92 News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Wednesday urged to take people of Sindh into confidence for the construction of Kalabagh Dam to end increasing water crisis in the city.
Addressing the MQM international secretariat, Alftaf demanded construction of Kalabagh dam from the federal government, terming it the need of the hour. “It’s for the first time that people are dying of severe heat strokes while prolonged power outages and gas crisis have also irked Karachiites,” he said. “If the officials fail to overcome the locals’ reservations, they should build small dams across Sindh so that the wastage of water can be handled.”
Karachi is suffering from intense water shortage and a severe heatwave that has killed more than 750 people in four days.
