Amir Khan crushes Phil Lo Greco; targets Kell Brook
LAHORE (92 News) – British Pakistani boxer Amir Khan has stunned the world after his return to the ring lasted less than a minute as the Briton knocked out Phil lo Greco in only 40 seconds in Liverpool.
In his first fight in nearly two years, Khan announced he is still in business with his quickest professional win in a welterweight contest that was scheduled for 12 rounds at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
“I was a little nervous, but I am back with a big bang,” Khan, 31, said and added “I want to become a world champion this year or next year.”
Khan’s focus after the light middleweight bout turned to Kell Brook, who was ringside, with the Bolton fighter saying Brook had been “living off his name”.
Former light-welterweight world champion Khan had not fought since his knockout defeat by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Las Vegas in 2016, while his previous bout in Britain ended in a points victory over Julio Diaz in Sheffield five years ago.
Outside of heavyweight fights featuring Anthony Joshua, Khan-Brook is perhaps the biggest fight in British boxing.
“All the fans want the fight. He can go in the jungle and chase stars, but when he gets in with me, he will be seeing stars,” Brook said.
Hearn wants to make Khan-Brook for late 2018 at the Manchester Arena. “This fight should have happened 12 months ago, two years ago. We have still got time,” Hearn said.
