PESHAWAR (92 News) – Flour prices skyrocket in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as the prices of 20kg flour bags increased by Rs250. The inflation in the prices of flour has snatched the bread and butter of the poor in KP. Taking advantage of the lockdown, flour dealers have dramatically increased flour prices in most districts of KP. The price of 20kg bag of mix flour was increased from Rs8500 to Rs1100, while fine flour bag surged from 9500 to Rs1200. The citizens stated that the main reason of inflation is closure of many markets. The government has lifted the ban on food-laden vehicles to keep food supply restored but could not curb self-inflating prices. Those who quarantined themselves at home and obeyed lockdown’s orders were now baking bread at home rather than purchasing from tandoors. Due to this, the profiteers started to take edge from this situation Neither the rulers are present in the markets nor is the district administration visible there.
