26th Constitution Amendment Bill presented in NA

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The 26th Constitution Amendment Bill has been tabled in the National Assembly on Friday here. The bill – seeks to increase the number of national and provincial seats for erstwhile tribal areas – was presented by independent member from tribal areas Mohsin Dawar. Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif started the debate on bill and delivered passionately speech during the session. He welcomed the step taken on private members’ day and said the whole House agrees with the bill. “The tribal areas had been suffering from anarchy from four decades, and our beautiful cities became safe havens for terrorists,” the PML-N leader said. “Special attention is needed to be given to the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) until the restoration of peace. Drone attacks were conducted at marriages and funerals in these areas. This House is creating history today.” “Pakistan had no conflict with Russia. Pakistan’s subjugation at the hands of a superpower was a sad chapter in country’s history. We compromise our independence for other benefits. America has been defeated in Afghanistan, and is now looking to escape,” Khawaja Asif mentioned. The PML-N stalwart further said that only Pakistan got victory in the war against terrorism, adding that our army forces sacrificed lives to defend the sovereignty of the country. On the occasion, Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak said that FATA, known as ‘Alaqa-e-Gheer’, is considered as the part of country today. “Our own people pronounced to this area as ‘Alaqa-e-Gheer’. This should be done before 70 years, now the people from FATA has been merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser adjourned the NA session during the debate till Monday.
